Why you need excersizeTo Achieve Permanent Weight Loss You Need to Exercise As Well As Diet

Diet plans promising quick and easy weight loss are one of the things that there’s too much of these days. For the most part, if these diet plans do make you lose weight, it will only be temporary. And sooner or later, you stop losing any weight. So what happens is you start on another diet plan and end up with the same result. The truth of the matter is that you won’t be able to achieve permanent weight loss unless you combine diet with an exercise regimen.

Does The Word “Exercise” Turn You Off?

Not a few people get turned off by the word “exercise.” If somebody keeps putting off going on a weight-loss program, chances are he or she doesn’t enjoy the prospect of having to exercise. But there’s no need to be afraid of exercise. If you have been a couch potato for too long, you can start with simple activities like walking – you can start with a 30-minute walk every day. Then you can simply extend the time by 15-minute increments perhaps every week or so. Get on a treadmill or a stationary bike.

These are just to get you started. After a few weeks, you will have developed the habit of being physically active and overcome your resistance to exercise. You will discover that these activities make you feel good afterwards. This is because physical exertion triggers the release of endorphins into your blood stream.

Develop Muscles & Consume More Calories

The heightened level of physical activity means you’re exerting more energy, causing your body to burn calories faster. With exercise, you will develop your muscles, which consume more calories than fatty tissue. As you continue building up muscle, your metabolic rate will stay high even when you’re at rest. That means that your body will continue burning fat even when you’re resting or sleeping.

Include Resistance Training or Weight Lifting in Your Exercise Plan

This would be the time to start your exercise regimen, a mix of cardiovascular (aerobic) exercises and resistance training. Usually people go for the cardio exercises when they work out for the first time, probably because they’re easier. However, if you want to maximize and speed up weight loss, you need to include resistance training or weight lifting into your exercise regimen. It will build up your muscle mass and boost your body’s fat burning capability. Simply put, your body will be using up more of the calories you have taken in instead of storing them in the form of fat cells.

Sticking to a healthy diet is important to losing weight, but keeping the weight off permanently cannot be achieved without regular exercise.
